Description
A lustrous specimen of Calcite included by minute, hair-like crystals of metallic black Boulangerite from Herja mine near to the small village of Chiuzbaia in Baia Mare, Maramureș County, Romania. Herja was a lead-antimony-silver-zinc mine which recorded an impressive 63 mineral species and is type locality to one (Fizélyite). In this beautiful small cabinet specimen, the Calcite has formed into a sinuous swirling wave of foliated crystals, coloured metallic silver grey by the finely disseminated Boulangerite (a rare lead sulphosalt). Looked at in an imaginative light, this specimen forms an almost black, heart-shaped form.
