A very fine rich deep royal blue specimen of Azurite with partial pseudomorphism by Malachite. Recorded as coming from the First Oxidation Zone at Tsumeb Mine, Namibia. A major bladed terminated crystal of Azurite measures to 6cm tall, with two intergrown parallel growth Azurite crystals in contact association. Intriguingly the Azurite crystals have been replaced by green Malachite as a 'waterline' across the three Azurite crystals. A choice specimen of Azurite from the beginnings of mining at Tsumeb. The specimen comes with a typed card index stating that the specimen was from the Mining Institute of Freiberg in 1967. The older label attached to the typed label is from the K.S. Mineralien-Niederlage zu Freiberg and dates to around 1905.
