On one face and one side, the crystals display diagonal planes of internal crazing in many shades of golden-yellow. The opposite face and side have a 2 mm deep internal colour change to a rich, reddish chocolatey-brown. This specimen, from the Frizington mining district of the West Cumberland Iron Field in north-west England, sits on a tiny earthy-red matrix of quartz and hematite. A highly lustrous specimen with part gemmy terminations and displaying chevron crystal development growth marks on the faces.
