A 1 to 2 mm thick (yet strong) plate of Hematite is totally covered on opposite faces with jet-black, highly lustrous metallic Hematite crystals of the variety 'Specularite'. This layer is overgrown with attractive translucent colourless to slightly smoky Quartz crystals of between 5 to 8 mm across. A little occasional bruising to the Hematite rosettes is present but largely negligible. A great Specular Hematite and Quartz from the now-closed Florence mine, near to Egremont in Cumbria, England.
