Fluorite with Calcite$6,500.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
This stunning colour-zoned Fluorite with an attractive coverage of Calcite crystals is from Height's Pasture mine, Westgate in Weardale. Not to be confused with Heights mine, Heights Pasture mine worked the Slitt vein, situated to the south of Heights mine itself which worked a different set of three veins; Heights North and South veins and the intersecting West Cross vein. With a maximum dimension of just over 5 cm, this specimen is classed as a miniature . It has no matrix and is composed of several connected, highly flattened cuboid prisms, the largest measuring 2.8 x 2.3 x 1.3 cm. Where these Fluorite crystals intersect is largely masked by piled-up, translucent milky white Calcite crystals of 5 to 8 mm , forming complex prisms with Mercedes nail-head terminations. All the Fluorite crystals are largely transparent with many gemmy zones. Their start feature is sensational colour zoning on two edges of an interpenetrant twin display wide outer bands of near colourless grading to mauve bands. Although specimen does not exhibit daylight fluorescence, the colours are naturally brightened and enhanced in fuller, indirect daylight. In LWUV the Fluorite fluoresces intense lavender with the zones regions display very different deeper lilac and purple shades. Please note there is some slight chipping on the Fluorite crystals with the backs of the main prisms forming parts of the contact surface.
