Rhodochrosite
Unknown Owner
A thumbnail specimen of bubbly dark strawberry red to pumpkin orange Rhodochrosite envelopes a mainly hidden inner core of sooty black Manganite. From the N'Chwaning Mines at Kuruman in the Kalahari Manganese Field of Northern Cape Province, South Africa. An interesting crystallography has developed whereby triangular manifestations of the rhombic habit emerge in the larger spherical surfaces of the dominant globular Rhodochrosite habit. An interesting Rhodochrosite from N'Chwaning.
