Orange-red lustrous translucent clusters of Rhodochrosite crystals are seen scattered over a cellular matrix of Quartz and yellow to dark brown Goethite matrix from the classic Wolf mine by the town of Herdorf in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The Rhodochrosite form curved and slightly rounded scalenohedral crystals to about 4 or 5 mm, usually in tight clusters which are translucent with a silky to frosted texture. This lovely miniature comes with two old handwritten labels.
