Description
Interpenetrant twinned crystals of Fluorite with Galena and Calcite from the Heights Mine, Weardale, Co. Durham. The crystals of gemmy green-purple Fluorite are daylight fluorescent purple, crystals measuring to 1.8cm on edge. Crystals of inter grown metallic grey Galena display cubes with octahedral modifications as the base on which the Fluorite crystals have grown. A later development of creamy Calcite crystals has formed on the Fluorite and Galena. A characteristic combination of the three minerals from the mine on a matrix of brown altered Fe-oxide rich Limestone.
