New Jersey is not known for specimen quality azurite, and this is the first noticeable piece I have ever spotted in a collection and thought worth considering. It is, I am told, probably from old road work there. Tabular and lustrous, neon-blue colored crystals of azurite, to 8 mm across, cover a large portion of the display side of this most unusual specimen. Minor green malachite as well as the azurite are nicely situated on a shale matrix. This happens to actually be an attractive hand specimen, and it certainly is an oddity for any USA collector. Rare for New jersey!
