Here we have a very atypical and uniquely attractive Plumbogummite specimen from the well-known Yangshuo Mine in China. This has the typical botryoidal form in general, but it is so atypical in its composition with the large, 3-cm-across hemisphere at the top of the piece, while the remainder of the smooth, botryoidal Plumbogummite seemingly flow down from the large sphere to coat the rest of the piece. The Plumbogummite is a pleasing medium blue-green with a satin luster and perceptible translucence. It is in excellent condition; a great small cabinet piece with unusually even coverage and excellent, almost translucent bubbles of this uncommon lead-aluminum phosphate. Very different from all others! Specimens of this quality with three-dimensional aesthetics are few and far between for this 2014-2015 find in China and they have not been available since.
