A very large, very fine, and unbelievably near-pristine specimen of this classic old French pyromorphite, for this size! Contrasting nicely with its massive white barite matrix, is a superb, large, densely packed blanket of lustrous, greenish-mustard colored pyromorphite crystals, to 1.3 cm in length. The more robust crystals clearly exhibit hopper growth. Very minor contact on the peripheral and a few tiny dings amidst the hundred crystals here, in no way diminishes the quality of the specimen. It is an antique, from the 1960s or 1970s era here. Pieces of this size for the crystal habit, and condition, are almost never seen today. Moreover, the specimen is really 3-dimensional, and stands on its own. It is not the usual flat plate that lacks relief and depth. This is a very three-dimensional and imposing cabinet specimen.
