These magnificent golden-honey yellow botryoidal Fluorites on contrasting intergrown purple octahedral Fluorites have been highly sought after by collectors since coming out a couple of years ago. It is easy to see why they are in high demand. They are characterized by their wet luster, gemmy translucency, rich color and unique crystal habit. Upon a closer look, this botryoidal crystal habit appears to consist of numerous small octahedrons showing unusual curved triangular faces with stepped growth. While this specimen exhibits the more typical globular form towards the top with groupings of interconnected individual Fluorite growths (rounded, but crystallized) up to 3 cm, its visual interest is enhanced by a few isolated Fluorite "balls" with the largest measuring 2.7 cm. It also has the added distinction of showing a partial coverage of tiny green octahedral Fluorites as well as some white microcrystalline Quartz(?) on the display face. The piece is in near pristine condition overall except for the incomplete sphere on the side due to extraction. This eye-catching Fluorite specimen is from the Qingwan Mine in Zhejiang Province, China. It has a distinctive refined look with the uncommon combination of the varying sized individual botryoidal Fluorites and the sparkling tiny green Fluorites providing that little extra touch.
