Description
You would be forgiven if you looked at this SUPERB Cerussite and immediately thought of the famous specimens from the Flux Mine in Arizona, because we did just that. This miniature is actually from the Adami Mine No. 2 in Greece. It is composed of a beautiful, well-defined 'nest' of “jackstraw” Cerussites that artfully inhabit the entire pocket in the gossan matrix like a spider web of crystals. The sharp, pearlescent needles reach 2 cm in length, and the criss-crossed nature of the growth fill your field of view just perfectly. On close examination, you can see that the Cerussites are peppered with small flakes of matrix, and this gives the crystals even more character. This is certainly a fine and aesthetic Cerussite that holds its own with any of the great jackstraw Cerussites from anywhere around the world, in the size range - except that it is from a locality we had no idea produced such things! Collected in 2012.
