Like futuristic skyscrapers, this Amazonite cluster features colorful and elegant, relatively tall crystals rising up from a creamy colored matrix. It is starkly dramatic, and impressive in a case. This particular specimen is a fantastic display piece featuring long prismatic, sharp, semi lustrous, well-formed, blue-green Amazonite crystals in a slightly divergent grouping. It is complete all around and remarkably has no repairs or damage! The large, commanding crystal at the center of the group measures 11 cm tall and the other adjacent crystals in the cluster are between 2 and 5 cm in length. A pair of Albite rosettres at 1.5 and 2 cm across are set at the bottom left of the piece and there are some incomplete Albite crystals to the right. The white matrix consists of a graphic granite composed of Albite, Smoky Quartz and maybe some Microcline and provides great contrast for the blue-green Amazonite! This is not simply a classic Amazonite display specimen from Crystal Peak, one of the better known districts in Colorado for good Amazonite - it is a great one, which has a look and quality that sets it apart. Rock Currier collected this in the summer of 1986 along with Bob Bartsch. Rock noted that at that time they had dug .624 tons of Amazonite and Smoky Quartz and a few other specimens. This is one he long kept in his collection as an example of the best of this pocket which he loved so much, so it has had no other owner. Most large specimens have repairs and restorations, but this has never even been to a lab. It is, truly, exceptional.
