Phantoms of purple Fluorite within the transparent, stepped blue cube aggregate highlight this gorgeous small cabinet piece from the famed Yaogangxian Mine. The colors and forms are complex and intriguing beyond what a photo can convey but the video certainly helps, because the piece presents itself in three dimensions. This is a stunning intergrown stepped-growth "pyramid" of Fluorite unlike any others we've seen with its color, clarity and internal phantom contributing to its remarkable aesthetics. It really does resemble a Mayan pyramid as they have very similar architecture with their distinctly stepped growth faces that descend in measured intervals down what would be each cube face. Although it looks deceptively "octahedral" overall, there is no vestige of a true octahedral face anywhere on the piece. The vivid purple, squarish phantoms stand out at the core of the piece which is then enveloped in a thick exterior of completely transparent light to medium blue Fluorite that provides a lovely, marked contrast to the piece. Several small, brassy metallic patches of druzy Pyrite preferentially decorate some of the faces at the top and cascade off the the back adding color and texture to this beautiful piece. It is contacted at the bottom where it reveals that a cluster of coarse Muscovite is the matrix. Found around 2019-2020.
