Siderite var. Chalybite
Totally covering one side of its matrix is a fine cluster of lustrous and translucent, brown-yellow siderite crystals to 7 mm in length, with many of them exhibiting complete growth in multiple directions, clearly showing off their trigonal symmetry. The old Cornish name for siderite was "chalybite" in this and other forms. This particular style is immediately recognizable to this day as Cornish, though seldom seen for sale. An old piece from the 1800s heyday, though the labels have bene lost (except for a partial old label, shown). ex George Elling Collection, from an East Coast museum.
