Erythrite crystals here form very unusually thick sheaves, to 2 cm long, on a solid ore matrix. Most such specimens are gracile, and have fragile and more slender erythrite crystals. This, however, is robust and therefore a much more concentrated burst of dark magenta color at the surface, although smaller crystals were more translucent. This is most likely an older specimen from finds of the 1980s. Note this mineral is soft, easily damaged - so these tips are currently in remarkable condition. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - SCH158
