Elmwood is widely known for producing thousands of fluorites of this style back in the day - 1980s, mostly. However, most Elmwood production was in the form of big specimens and big crystals. Perfect miniatures like this were always, and remain, so very very rare. This crystal, to 2.7 cm on edges, is perched perfectly on a pedestal of gorgeous, lustrous sphalerite. You could not ask for a better display or contrast. It is an old style, very different than any modern examples (some small amount of material still comes out via old miners). It is complete all around save for some contact on the backface only. One photo shows the fluorescence (hot purple). Superb miniature example, in an era when cabinet specimens are more common to see than fine miniatures! Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - 41009
