Lovely agate from the Rio Grande do Sul region of Brazil. There are numerous colorful, concentric bands in this piece and their definition is absolutely excellent. Colors include orange-brown, blue-gray, medium brown, dove gray and very thin off-white to those with a bluish hue. The colors complement and contrast each other beautifully, which accentuates the sharp banding even more. There is a small enclave crystalline clear to slightly milky Quartz off to one side that resembles a flame. The very bottom, flatter side of the piece shows several, horizontal bands. This is one of the more aesthetic patterned agates I have seen from this region, and it displays perfectly from both sides, with only the front side polished. This was a piece kept for probably decades, simply because Alvaro apparently loved the exceptionally complex banding, and was in with his personal mineral collection when we bought it.
