Matrix vesuvianite plates of this style are very uncommon from the old classic localities of Italy. Nearly covering the display side of this matrix specimen are discrete, highly lustrous, chocolate brown-colored crystals of vesuvianite, to 2.3 cm in length. Several crystals are contacted but most are quite complete, on this very showy specimen. I found it appealing for the dramatic matrix display and overall size, when most of these are either small singles or large matrix plates of small crystals. ex Alain Martaud specimen, and ex.
