Pyrrhotite on Quartz
Highly lustrous hexagonal crystals of pyrrhotite of the highest quality are rare in nature from ANY locality. These, from old 1980s finds in the former Soviet Union, are shown forming a brilliant, metallic, bronzy cluster atop well trimmed matrix of Quartz. At about 1 inch across, they are robust and in your face, making this a dramatic thumbnail of a species seldom represented in competitive TN displays! Complete all around, this sparkles from any direction. The crystals are unusually lustrous, mirror bright, and sharply edged... just a stunning specimen that is 1 in 1000, the kind of thumbnail Alex Schauss enjoyed chasing to bring a species into his broad collection.
