Quartz (Japan Law twinned)$1,600.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
This is a large and attractive example of Japan-law twinning in Quartz from the Pomba Pit in Brumado, Brazil. The piece is super lustrous, very bright, and largely transparent except at the location of the twin plane where it has the appearance of an apparition! This is a sizable twin and these are not common in general and extremely rare from the Pomba Pit and this was probably recovered during ming/collecting operations in 1980! Most twins of this habit are skinny, but this is thick at nearly an inch! It is an outstanding example of good size and has sharp edges and faces with the broad face(s) in the front showing a faint, geometric growth pattern that is oriented in different directions on either side of the twin plane which is unusual. There is even a different style of growth features on the opposing broad face. The pyramidal faces and two sets of prism faces have a distinctly glassy luster. It is contacted on the bottom and on one end where it was growing against other Quartz crystals most likely. This large, transparent Japan law twin has a mass of 290 grams.
