Amethyst from the La Sirena Mine at Guanajuato, Mexico is known for its distinctive, two-generational growth. The pretty, purple Amethyst crystals are completely gemmy, and have exceptional phantoms that are pyramidal from the side and almost a surreal, trigonal pattern looking down the c-axis. As is typical for La Sirena, the Amethysts are sheathed in a drusy Quartz that leaves the tips of the crystals exposed. The combination of the gemminess, color, and the outstanding phantoms make these totally unique. Better and more dramatic in person. Hard to photograph.
