Malachite
Chinese-origin malachite from this ancient mine is famous in China, but seldom seen outside China until recently. The Tonglushan is where the Chinese bronze age started, and it has been mined continuously since! This is a unique specimen, even among many I have seen there in the mining city on multiple trips. Interconnected botryoids of shiny, dark forest-green malachite, to 3 cm across, exhibit a very pleasant and aerial sculptural form. These unique specimens form as crusts on matrix that pop off as they are mined leaving free-floating malachite "sculptures" like this. Individual botryoids measure between just under 1 cm to 3 cm across and form a ring with extending "tentacles" for great visual effect. Displays very well on a custom engraved acrylic base.
