A beautiful elongate grouping of radiating "balls" of this attractive new quartz find from a volcanic island in Indonesia. It is actually amethyst, by analysis! Often labeled as agate or chalcedony, it is true amethyst. Individual spheres measure 3 to 8 mm across which are relatively large for this locality compared to other specimens. The color is a medium purple with a soft matte luster and some of the spheres display almost a chatoyance as the piece is rotated. Very good for this material and it displays well in many orientations.
