Baryte from Elk Creek is, to many of us Americans at least, the best Baryte in the world (collectors of old English material will respectfully disagree, but theirs ain't gemmy!). This stunning gem crystal exemplifies why. It is like amber glass, like an antique amber colored beer bottle in fact. It is riveting, clean, and facet-able quality, totally transparent. It is a complete all around cluster, intact except for a few tiny dings on one back edge that can be turned away from the viewer (or filled with epoxy in a lab, if desired). It is actually a competition quality thumbnail of a common species, which is also rare in and of itself!
