This thumbnail contains a significant amount of these two rare bismuth-bearing sulfides. Pavonite and aikinite comprise metallic gray-black, <1 mm, bladed to prismatic, complex intergrowths of the two species in a quartz-siderite matrix. Bismuthinite may also be present. From the Bolivar mine, Cerro Bonete, Sud Lipez Province, Potosi Dept., Bolivia, the type locality for pavonite. Ex. Paulo Matioli and Putz Hubert collections with labels.
