This piece doesn’t need a backlight for its bright, chrome-green to stand out from across a room. This piece is a stunning thumbnail example of this locality. While there is some chatter on the edges, the crystal is complete all the way around. Titanite was previously known as Sphene, which is Greek for “wedge,” a nod to a common habit of the species. San Quintin produced Chromian Titanite crystals up to 2.5 cm, with some displaying interpenetrant twinning on {100} with reentrant angles resulting in a cross-shape when viewed on edge.
