Cubanite from this small mine is considered, by far, the world's best. A typically sized crystal MIGHT be 1 cm. This is a large, robust, twinned crystal measuring 4.5 cm across - the top size I have seen for the species in only 3 specimens that I have had access to. The photos do not do it justice, because the surface is so brassy, bright, and reflective. In person, the piece is much more appealing, because the human eye catches the subtleties of the crystallization and twinning planes better than the camera does. This crystal is complete on both sides. It was in the collection of Lance Hampel, most of which was donated to the Seaman Museum in later years after he parted with this to a private collector from whom I obtained it. This is a significant specimen, of huge importance for the species and locality.
