Here is an intensely colorful and gemmy to translucent Rubellite crystal from the famous Cruzeiro Mine. It is the classic color known since the 1970s, and we presume it came out in that era, but it could have been earlier. This classic Cruzeiro Tourmaline is a cranberry pink through much of its length with a darker pink cap. It measures one and a half inches in length, has great luster and displays the typical striations parallel to its length as most Tourmalines do. The bottom centimeter is translucent and somewhat turbid transitioning to a gemmy to translucent zone for much of its length and then topped by a 4 mm thick magenta-pink termination. The crystal has an excellent luster, however, the flat termination is slightly rough and has a satin luster. There are a few sprinkles of pale lavender Lepidolite near the base along with a 3 mm ball of Lepidolite. This little beauty has a mass of 15.92 grams. From an old tourmaline collection we obtained.
