Fluorite, at its best saturated green color, from the Asuza Mine in urban Los Angeles is legendary among SoCal collectors and rarely seen in this quality outside San Diego and LA. Found in the 1990s, local collectors and friends of the miners, the Gochenour brothers, grabbed them up and kept them for decades. This fine, gemmy small cabinet specimen belonged to Bob Reynolds, a prominent local collector and the curator of the San Bernardino Museum. He had kept a suite in his own private collection, of which this is one of the best. He self-collected some of them with the Gochenour brothers and also helped finance them for the mining, earning him some good specimens!
