The Minerva No. 1 Mine in the Southern Illinois Fluorspar District has produced a plethora of zoned Fluorite crystals in the past and this is a lovely small cabinet example. Yellow Fluorite cores are overgrown by an outer zone of pale purple Fluorite in a cluster of somewhat hoppered crystals to 2.2cm. There are a few small (<3mm) Chalcopyrite crystals for accent. Some contacting around the periphery. Note that gem yellow is one of the most rare colors here, compared to purple and blueish hues. A very pretty, deeply colored piece!
