A strange specimen consisting of a combination we have not seen before from China and maybe not from anywhere else, of baryte intimately intergrown with rhodochrosite! The baryte is gorgeous, pure white in color at first glance but actually made up of two layers. On close examination you can see the baryte is itself made up of two layers, one snow white and opaque (and fluorescent!), but overlaid with a more sparkling, clear layer of growth that does not fluoresce. The contrast of color and shape really makes these unique, from a 2022 find.
