Some exceptional Epidote specimens have come out of Peru over the last decade and this is a an elegant series of sprays with Quartz in association from a relatively new and obscure Peruvian locality in the Andes mountains. The piece consists of several sprays of prismatic, deep green-yellow, lustrous and translucent crystals of Epidote, with the unusually aesthetic addition of some transparent Quartz crystal bursts on and among the Epidotes. The green Epidote crystals are superbly formed and well composed with crystals ranging between 1 to 4.5 cm in length with the smaller crystals exhibiting good transparency. Of all the Epidote crystals on this piece, maybe three or four of the smaller crystals aren't terminated with all of the others having chisel-point terminations and the largest one has an unusual, steeply angled termination. The Quartz crystals are beautiful, scintillating sprays of 0.5 to 1 cm, needle Quartz that are strategically placed on the Epidote crystals for maximum aesthetic effect. Just a very few of the terminations are incomplete, and they are hard to find amongst the naturally rough terminations of the other crystals. This is a super example for the size of a now semi-famous find of mid-2019.
