Found in 1961 and 1963 on the 210m level of the Caecilia Mine, these gemmy Fluorites have the very rare (731) habit, which creates elongated, complex crystals. These twinned fluorites look like calcite at first glance, and are very rare! The light amber color is appealing, as are the multiple faces that are silky to almost glassy. Internally, the Fluorites are gemmy, and the interior of some are included by filaments of Cinnabar, which is an unusual and remarkable association. There are numerous quality, complete crystals in this cabinet piece. The aesthetics are good, and the piece has mineralogical interest and importance. Kay was an expert on this mine and this find, and in fact wrote an article (in German, 1963) about these unusual finds, which are also mentioned in the Mineralogical Record and Mineralien Welt articles on Kay. This was the largest such specimen from her collection and is prominently illustrated in the recent 64-page article on Kay in Mineralien Welt (6-2017). Kay had a suite of these in her German collection and treasured them. I have not seen for sale elsewhere.
