This is a particularly elegant, floating specimen of velvety Malachite composed of dark forest-green, satin-lustered, botryoids (rounded growths) to nearly 4 cm across. The botryoids are slightly intergrown giving the specimen a lovely sculptural form. These unique specimens form as crusts on matrix that pop off as they are mined, leaving free-floating malachite "sculptures" like this. It is therefore complete and undamaged all around. This is from a spectacular pocket of 2019, and these ethereal shapes were generally in the 2-4 inch size range as opposed to the usual where they form as large crusts. An excellent specimen - When lit in a showcase, or with a light, the curved "bubbles" of malachite show flashing "eyes" like a cat's eye effect in gemstones, moving across the large satiny growths. They are even more beautiful in person!
