The Palomo Mine in Peru has produced a variety of sulfides and sulfosalts along with this unusual varieties of Stibnite that are unique in the world as they look like small, silvery cauliflower-like heads all over a plate of light colored matrix. The Stibnite from the top view is in rounded, tightly grouped, reflective, silvery gray metallic botryoids and from the side you can see that they are composed of tight, radial divergent groups of very slender prismatic crystals that coalesce at the top to form the rounded groups. The piece is very sculptural and aesthetic and the off-white matrix contrasts well with the metallic silver-gray Stibnite. This is an excellent cabinet specimen of this Stibnite habit from the Palomo Mine! We have simply never seen another of this quality and magnitude for sale. It is from the old collection of Kurt Hefendehl of Germany and has a custom lucite base for nice vertical display.
