This unusual specimen features isolated 3-dimensional crystals of steeply curved fluorite octohedra, to 4 cm across, perched on a sugary, sparkling white quartz matrix that overlays a thin rind of green fluorite. The piece is balanced by careful trimming here, and is quite aesthetic. The contrast of purple octohedra against the sparkling white snowy matrix of the quartz is amazing! When backlit, the whole piece glows in 3 colors and is highly translucent throughout. It has the intense, grape-juice deep purple color from the first finds (spring 2013). Dramatic!
