Pegmatites of the Pikes Peak batholith have produced some of the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of color, form, associations, and sheer display quality, with the mines in the Lake George area producing their fair share. This small cabinet specimen is most notable for its choice form and intense, rich color. Together, this makes it look very much like a sculpture, with geometrical perfection you do not often see. The color is actually variegated, ranging from a typical and desired blue-green to areas within the crystal that are actually more of a pure blue. This is an interesting and attractive variation that isn't all that common. The silky, almost matte finish gives the crystals nice definition. Undoubtedly an old-timer, this is a classic Amazonite specimen from one of the most storied and well-known districts in Colorado. Importantly, it has no repairs or restoration, as do many in this size from more modern finds at nearby (different) locations in the region.
