This huge 8.5 cm adamantine crystal displays well despite some small dings towards the base. Plus, it has a sweet associated Grossular crystal indicative of the local. When these mustard-yellow large Vesuvianites and associate Garnets first came out, a California dealer obfuscated the locality. Hence these occasionally being ascribed to “Lake Jaco”. The associated University of Arizona Dr. Miguel Romero label notes “Choacilla, Zaragoza” as the locality, though this is probably a combination of a misspelling and an abbreviation for Coahuila de Zaragoza. A startlingly LARGE example, and finely crystallized! This specimen comes from the Dr. Miguel Romero Collection (https://mineralogicalrecord.com/labels.asp?colid=792), the major Mexican collection of modern history, which we had the good fortune to purchase in 2008.
