This is a perfectly formed, textbook, lustrous and brilliantly glassy crystal of smoky quartz from the so-called "Morion Pocket" of 2015. This term is more often associated with dark, non-gem Brazilian quartz that is so smoky and dark, it is not gemmy inside. However, here, this only refers to the surface color being so incredibly smooth and jet-black, because the inside does actually glow a rich black-red color, with strong lighting. Although larger crystals were found, this is a perfect symmetry, and excellent example in size class, and so was the one chosen for the Lockhart Swiss collection at the time they came out, direct from the source.
