Chalcocite$8,500.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
This mine burst onto the mineral scene in the 1990s, and while short-lived, it produced some of the finest Chalcocite specimens to have come from North America since the old days at Bristol, Connecticut. This cabinet sized example is very good, with excellent play of iridescent colors to make it beautiful instead of the typical matte gray. The specimen consists of typical purplish, dark iridescent, well formed crystals to 2cm across forming a generous cluster, and in person is actually quite sculptural. Shows very well all around. In excellent shape overall and is accompanied by a custom engraved acrylic base. Formerly in the collection of Dr. Ed David. These, in such quality and size, are simply not on the market anymore. This was one of the world's most significant locations for the species, and it is now reclaimed and will never produce again. Ref: The Mineralogical Record, 30 (2), 107-131. Hefty, at a whopping 516 grams.
