Rhodochrosite on Quartz$3,000.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
This very elegant and very unusual Chinese Rhodochrosite specimen consists of several large, flat, greenish-tinted Quartz crystals along with platy, drusy, pink Rhodochrosite. Large, tabular, Rhodochrosite crystals are perched atop the Quartz crystals and display a rich rose-pink interior and the outer surface of the crystal faces are a saturated pink for lovely contrast. Although the Rhodochrosite crystals look incomplete due to the serrated edges and shapes, they are actually 100% complete and simply exhibit complex and unique growth forms around their edges. The two large crystals measure 4.3 and 3.9 cm across. The Quartz crystals are really curiously-formed because of their flattened habit and are tinted pale green, possibly by a Chlorite Group mineral that isn't uniformly distributed. The Quartz crystals are also capped by what seem to be shallow-angle pyramidal terminations. The crystals are from around 2 cm, up to 6.2 cm and are tightly intergrown in a very geometric arrangement. The back of the piece is blanketed in pink, glittering, drusy Rhodochrosite crystals that are accented by little clusters of 1 to 2 mm, bright Pyrite crystals. This cabinet piece is attractive in a display with its complementary colors and it has something going on on both sides! Have not seen another, quite like it, out of over 50 trips to China. This MIGHT be from the older finds there, or could be a recent small artisanal pocket - I am honestly not sure.
