A robust, extremely lustrous and colorful Fluorapatite from the tin-tungsten mines at Panasqueira, Portugal. This stocky verdant crystal is largely gemmy, especially in the outer areas, with a translucent interior. All of the crystal faces have a glassy luster and the prism faces are only perceptibly striated. The color at the termination is a rich green that transitions to more of a green-yellow in the remainder of the crystal. This dramatic crystal is complete with sharp edges and faces on the front side and contacted on the backside with minor Muscovite at the base. Obtained by Steve Smale from the famous Panasqueira dealer Rene Dulon back in the 1970s. Ex. Steve and Clara Smale collection with label.
