Silver "Rope"
An old-time, sculptural and aesthetic specimen of very sharp, elongated Silver crystals from the historic Silver mines at Kongsberg, Norway. People refer to these commonly as wire silvers but technically, they are elongated crystals that only look like wires! This superb old-time specimen consists of a curving, parallel group of bright, silvery Native Silver crystals that have a touch of patina along their length in places, as a lovely added touch. The extended crystals or crystal groups are slightly furrowed along their length, creating dimension. An attractive and aesthetic piece of Silver from Kongsberg that is not typical for the locality, with an elegant curve like a bow, it is just really pretty and balanced for the size. It weighs in at just over a quarter of an ounce or 8.04 grams. This is from a small suite of beautiful wire and crystalline silver miniatures obtained from collector Bill Larson, and he got them from a woman who obtained them in Kongsberg itself, prior to 1950 (personal communication, no labels).
