This matrix specimen is composed of two rounded aggregates of translucent crystals of glassy, yellow-green Adamite associated with just the right amount of limonite matrix, a really beautiful example of this old Mexican classic find. A smaller, 2.2 cm Adamite ball sits atop a larger, 4 cm ball, both composed of divergent, radial and very bright crystals. The Adamite has a saturated yellow-green color and the terminations of these hemispheres glisten and the extreme right side of the piece looks as if it has been just lightly airbrushed with a dusting of red-brown included limonite, something I have only rarely seen before! The reverse side of the piece shows the orange-brown limonite matrix as well as the radiating pattern of the top Adamite hemisphere. The association of the bright yellow-green with the light red-brown dusting of Adamite is aesthetic and relatively unique. Nicely balanced and beautiful. Ex Tom Campbell collection.
