Cabinet-sized and quite substantial for Lavrion, this significant cluster of Fluorites was collected in 2020 from the Sounion mines. Large Greek Fluorites are uncommon, especially as aesthetic examples in large size. Gemmy to translucent, there are dozens of these light blue-lavender colored cubes atop and across the matrix. Silky luster gives the crystals 'body', and the largest Fluorite is 3 cm on edge, an almost unheard of size for a Lavrion. But what makes these Fluorites distinctive are the sharp, reddish phantoms within - likely from an iron oxide, they take the importance of this piece to a new level in terms of interest and aesthetics. These phantoms even stand out as the cubes fluoresce a rich, vivid, purplish-blue. There is some small damage to a few crystals, particularly the secondary crystal to the right of the major crystals atop, but these are not seen from a distance anyways (and can be restored in a lab easily, we just do not think necessary). The piece as a whole it very balanced and displayable.
