Several mounds of tiny, sparkling, translucent Quartz crystals dominate one side of this attractive piece while the other is monopolized by colorful iridescent Pyrite - this is a truly "two-faced" specimen. The Quartz mounds on the more prominent side are composed of innumerable, 1 to 2 mm, glistening Quartz crystals that are dusted locally by tiny, nacreous Pyrite crystals. The opposite side is completely bedazzled by minute, scintillating Pyrite crystals that exhibit a wonderful iridescence in thick somewhat-concentric bands ranging in color from metallic green, orange, blue and magenta. A very lovely and contrasting piece from one side to other! These are not significant pyrites, but they are nevertheless beautiful combination specimens. I saw these come out when I was nearby the mine, a giant open pit operation, in 2018. While there were a few tables of material that "sparkled," this one was particularly elegant in shape.
