A highly unusual example of the famous French pink fluorite classics we know and love, this is a pretty and entirely translucent/transparent plate of solid crystals! It is a floater, complete all around and composed of unusual, flattened crystals as if they grew squeezed into a crevasse in the rock (and they surely did just that). One side is a little darker, the other a little brighter, and the crystals reach to just about 2 cm across. It is simply gorgeous when backlit! One small chip, and complete all around. Thin white platy material in association is a thin growth of feldspar, also stretched out and elongated. The side with feldspar growth has high luster! This is so different from any other we have seen, and the color is also very strong for French pink fluorite. Dr. Pohl # in the 51000s, so at just about the middle of her collecting activity (at over 100,000 pieces) and this dates from the 1970s. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - 51982
