Mined in 1935 according to the old labels, this cluster of five unusual and twinned Calcites from Guanajuato is outstanding as well as historic. Each crystal is twinned, striated, partially gemmy, and highly lustrous. The habits of these rare, La Luz Mine Calcites vary distinctly from the more common, elongated scalenohedral-like crystals of the Guanajuato district. The largest crystal is about 5.4 cm tip to tip and these glassy crystals, which reside on a plate of Quartz, have a deep orange fluorescence. A very fine and classic, old-time piece (excellent condition with very little bruising!), this was in the collections of Willy Hirsch and Kay Robertson (# 1335). Old labels included.
